Incorporating products you can find right here on PartyPail.com, today Mary is going to share directions so you can make them too! First, we’ll share her Christmas Tree Craft, and then we’ll share the Santa Door. Both are simple DIY projects you can recreate for your own office or home!

Without further ado, here’s Mary with the directions:

DIY Office Holiday Decorations

Christmas Tree Craft

DIY Crepe Paper Christmas Tree

This crepe paper cone Christmas tree is perfect for office decor — or even home decor if you’re not able to put up a real tree!

Supplies:

1 roll emerald crepe streamer
1 roll lime crepe streamer
Toilet paper tube
3 pieces of yellow construction paper
3 pieces of poster board (green if available)
Hot glue gun

Instructions:

For ruffled crepe steamers:
On a sewing machine, set stitch length to longest stitch and set tension to strongest tension.

From the lime and emerald rolls of crepe streamers, lay the 2 ends of streamers overlapping at the center. Sew forward and backward to lock the stitch, then just sew all the way down the center until you run out of crepe. Crepe should ruffle up as you sew (If crepe doesn’t ruffle as you go, when you are finished, you can pull the end thread to ruffle it, but it takes much longer this way. If you experiment a little with tension, you should be able to get the machine to do the gathering for you). You will end up with a long, ruffled crepe streamer.

To make tree cone:
Determine the size you want your “tree” to be. Cut the lower portion of the cone shape from the 2 poster boards and tape together with shipping tape. Cut the last posterboard to make the top of the cone, leaving a small opening at the top in the size of an empty toilet paper tube. Tape the top part of cone to the lower part of cone to form the upper part of cone. Our finished cone ended up about 4 feet tall without the star.

For the star:
Cover the toilet paper tube with yellow construction paper. Attach tube to the center of the tree in the opening of the tree cone. Cut two matched star shapes and tape on each side of tube for the star. (We used the “folded paper/ 1 cut” 5 point star method started by Betsy Ross: http://www.enchantedlearning.com/crafts/Star.shtml)

To attach ruffle:
Hot glue the ruffle slowly around the cone, starting at the bottom and going around the cone all the way to the top. Cut off any extra ruffle. (If you like to work with smaller pieces, you can cut the ruffle streamer and attach it in pieces instead.)

Santa Door

DIY Santa Door

This Santa door decoration is perfect for an office door,  a child’s bedroom door, or even your front door if you live in an interior apartment unit!

3 pieces peach of 12” x 12” scrapbook paper
3 white poster boards
3 piece of black construction paper

Instructions:

For Santa suit:

For beard:
Cut 1 piece of white poster board in shape of beard. Hot glue white stuffing on to beard. Cut a piece of poster board into 2 sides of a mustache; hot glue stuffing onto beard.
